Author’s Journey: From Hilltop in North Haven, CT to Dunedin, FL  Escapism to Literary Success.

Largo, FL — Author Dan MacDonald reflects on a life shaped by adventure, curiosity, and a deep love of storytelling, culminating in the publication of sixteen books, including acclaimed titles such as "Lost Footsteps,  Terry Hill: Family Secrets of the past, " a collection of 15 Short stories titled ‘BEDTIME STORIES Short Stories for ages 14 to 100’, ‘Trade wind: Sail to a new Adventure’, a YA book for ages 12+.”

 

Growing up in the Early 1970s, Dan MacDonald found solace and inspiration in a dirt hill behind their house in North Haven, Connecticut, where cherished books like "The Boxcar Children" sparked an early passion for literature. Frequent family relocations and mischievous escapades fueled a vivid imagination, while late-night shifts as a cab driver in Maine later inspired the short story "The Small Town Taxi, and Other Short Stories.

 

There were many other books he used to take out from his school library at Green Acres Elementary School, and a teacher, Mrs. Gertz,  who further explored the stories. During High school, Dan went to a school in Bridgewater, New Jersey. At this point, he was interested in Electronics, Shortwave radio, and Amateur radio, but wouldn’t receive his license until 1994. And music.

 

After studying media and animation in Florida, Dan discovered new ways to blend visual storytelling with the written word. A creative writing class in 2015 reignited the spark to write, launching a new phase of literary productivity. After attending The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division, he was hired by his animation professor and worked for him in his company. Dan shows no signs of giving up his passion and has more books and another book of short stories. He now lives in the Beautiful town of Dunedin, Florida.
